Call to sign open letter

Dougray Scott among signatories for open letter of support for Dyslexia Scotland manifesto

Dyslexia Scotland is calling on supporters of its manifesto to sign an open letter to all political candidates ahead of Holyrood’s elections.

The charity’s manifesto draws on academic research by the charity to highlight significant inequalities their community faces in education, employment and day-to-day life.

They are inviting individuals with dyslexia, their educators, families and other changemakers to sign an open letter which they will send to all political parties as they set out their own priorities for government.

The letter has already been signed by the charity’s high-profile supporters including its Presider, Sir Jackie Stewart; Vice President Dougray Scott and former British Fencing Champion, Keith Cook.

The charity is calling on political leaders to implement three critical policy asks that will deliver measurable improvements in educational outcomes, workforce participation, and lifelong wellbeing.

The online form for signatories is open until 9 February.

Chief Executive of Dyslexia Scotland Cathy Magee said: “The challenges facing dyslexic and neurodivergent people require immediate attention – delays mean continued disadvantage, lost potential, and unnecessary hardship for individuals and families across Scotland. Our educators are struggling to manage workloads, our support for learning needs are at a record high and people with dyslexia are consistently being left behind. Our community is calling for change: the time for action is now. We’re urging our supporters to back this campaign and sign the open letter.”
