MBE honour for dyslexia Ambassador Paul

Dyslexia Scotland Ambassador Paul McNeill has been awarded an MBE in the New Year Honours List for services to young people with dyslexia

Paul has served as an Ambassador for Dyslexia Scotland for more than 15 years. During this time, he has delivered services directly to learners in schools through the award-winning Mission Dyslexia programme, supporting whole classes to understand the learning difference. He has also worked at a parliamentary level as Secretary to the Cross-Party Group on Dyslexia in the Scottish Parliament, helping to shape policy and raise awareness nationally.

Speaking to the Paisley Daily Express, Paul said: “I always thought, well, if there’s anything I can do to help people who have a challenge in terms of a learning disability, or the learning difference that I have – and that so many people in Scotland also have – then I would do that.”

Chief Executive of Dyslexia Scotland Cathy Magee said: “Paul’s contribution to our mission cannot be overstated. From rolling up his sleeves to running workshops for whole classes, through to top-level meetings with Ministers in the Scottish Parliament, he makes an impact at every level. We are delighted to see his work recognised.”
