Dyslexia teacher training programme open for applications
Applications have opened for the 2024 Dyslexia and Inclusive Practice teacher training programme.
Co-delivered by Dyslexia Scotland and Education Scotland, the groundbreaking GTCS Professional Recognition programme equips teachers and lecturers to create dyslexia-friendly practices in their learning establishments.
Fifty-two educators have successfully achieved the Professional Recognition Award since the pilot in 2020.
One previous participants said, “The award has made me more confident within my role as a teacher. It has had a positive impact within the school as colleagues are happy to ask questions to better support our learners. Parents/carers are more trusting that I am doing everything I can to support their child.”
Dyslexia Scotland Chief Executive Cathy Magee said, “We’re delighted to be running this professional learning programme in conjunction with Education Scotland. The programme is equipping teachers with the professional courage to provoke change and make significant in-roads to making Scotland’s schools far more dyslexia inclusive
“The programme is a keystone of our ambition to make Scotland a dyslexia-friendly country. I’m so proud of the work our alumni are doing in their learning communities and I look forward to welcoming a new cohort later this year.”
GTCS-registered educators should apply via Dyslexia Scotland’s website before midnight on 24 May.
