Marissa has the write stuff

Writer and changemaker Marissa McCudden says: “I have written and published my debut children’s picture book called There’s Lots of Different Types of Clever to nurture the self esteem of dyslexic learners and build their confidence in their own gifts and talents that might lie elsewhere rather than in reading, writing or spelling.

I am also a primary teacher in St Angela’s Primary in Darnley, Glasgow and have helped bring dyslexia awareness to the forefront through assemblies, running a dyslexia club to support the dyslexic learners in school and give them a voice.

This helps children realise that dyslexia has nothing to do with intelligence and that, although they do have barriers in their learning of literacy, it does not mean that they have nothing to offer.“
