Dyslexia and the classroom – Portree

Dyslexia Scotland Skye and Lochalsh branch is pleased to share with you ‘Dyslexia and the Classroom’ with Sharon Hall.

This free workshop, aimed at teachers, SfL staff, classroom assistants etc will bring you up to date with the latest scientific research and highlight neurodivergent profiles and co-occurrence. We will delve into the specific characteristics of dyslexia and through simulations and case studies experience some of the barriers that can be apparent in the classroom on a day-to-day basis.

We will look at the importance of accessibility and breaking down the barriers through explicit, accumulative instruction as well as understanding the impact of cognitive load and how small, but effective adjustments in your delivery can make a difference.

Finally, you will discover the incredible strengths and uniqueness of the dyslexic mind and how to embrace, support and promote a neurodiverse, inclusive culture where accessibility and self-awareness for all is the key to building self-esteem.
