Books and stories
A poem by Monty
I love to write and think in rhyme,
I’m sure you’ve noticed too,
I put this down to my dyslexic mind
A skill that saw me through.
School is tough for everyone
But those that are slightly different,
Must find a way to defy being shunned,
Because children are so vociferant
Through those early days of reading
There was nothing I loved more,
Than the rhyming chanting feeling
Of a Gruffalo-type score!
Of all the books I read when I was only wee,
The lion that wanted to love
Was the very one for me…
“You’ve got to be strong to be different,
But if you’ve got love on your side,
You’ve got the most precious gift that there is
We want you as king of our pride”
A message I hold as dear today as all those years ago,
It’s history books that I love these days
But if ever I need a piece to flow,
I’m back to my rhyming ways!!
