Building confidence in Fife

P7 Dyslexia Ambassadors from Duloch primary school in Fife have worked hard all year to raise awareness and improve understanding of dyslexia across their school community

Teacher Aimee Denholm says, “We began by taking part in Dyslexia Awareness Week in October 2025, where we helped share key messages about dyslexia with our peers. Building on this, in February we decided to organise and host our first ever Dyslexia Awareness Afternoon for parents and carers.

This was a very successful and positive event. We shared helpful information about dyslexia, including what it is and how it can impact learners. Following this, we led a range of interactive activity stations for parents and carers. These included:

As Dyslexia Ambassadors, we took responsibility for leading these stations, speaking with parents, and sharing our knowledge. This helped us build confidence and develop our communication and leadership skills.

Parents shared that they:

Parents and carers also told us they would like:

The event was described as informative, friendly and very useful, and we were proud that the Dyslexia Ambassadors were praised for our confidence, clarity and helpfulness.

Some of the words parents used to describe the event were: encouraged, informed, positive, educated and proud.

We are proud of the difference we have made in raising awareness of dyslexia in our school community and in helping families feel more informed, confident and supported.”
