Speaker: Dr Angela Shapiro

Topic: Dyslexic Student Feedback session - an opportunity for dyslexic students to discuss the support that they receive from their college or university.  Also, suggestions will be provided for potential and current students in further and higher education, on accessing dyslexia support.

Dr Angela Shapiro has just retired after 17 years as a Senior Lecturer in the Learning Development Centre, School of Engineering & Built Environment at  Glasgow Caledonian University.  She commenced working in community based Adult Education over 35 years ago.  She then taught at John Wheatley College for 14 years, finishing there as a Senior Lecturer.

Dr Shapiro is also a member of a Forum for Learning Support which has members from all of the Scottish universities.  She is still in touch with former colleagues at Glasgow Caledonian University and will pass on any major concerns from the Adult Network (Glasgow) discussion.  Dr Shapiro contacted the Adult Network (Glasgow) after reading an article last year in Dyslexia Scotland's magazine, written by a student who was unhappy with the support received from their university.  Dr Shapiro was concerned about the poor support this student had reported.
